Where it all began.
Hello there and welcome! I’m Ashleigh — the founder of Ballarat Mums Neurodiverse Kids. Every community has a story, here is ours:
This space grew from my own personal journey as a neurodivergent mum (diagnosed in her thirties) navigating the ups, downs, and in-betweens of raising a neurodivergent child while balancing full-time study, casual work, and blended family life. I quickly realised that while the challenges are real, so is the power of connection, support and a sense of belonging.
What began as a simple idea — bridging the gap of a mum’s group for neurodiverse children that didn’t exist in Ballarat — has blossomed into a growing community where we laugh, cry, sometimes curse, swap tips and tricks, and remind each other that we’re not alone.
This group is my heart project, created for mums and carers just like me and you; a safe place to connect, learn, feel seen and heard. Think casual coffee catch-ups and some fun local events throughout the year. And that’s how Ballarat Mums Neurodiverse Kids was born in 2025!
Big love,
Ashleigh
